Week 1 Match-Up: Greenville 84's

 @

The Los Angeles Bruins will travel to Grennville to take on the 84's in the first set of games ever to take place in the VFL2. While the Bruins stayed close in week one of the pre-season, and got routed in game two (where it should be noted they sat starters) the 84's crushed their week two opponent, and while it is just the pre-season, Bruins GM Mike Brouillette, along with head coach Steve Young took notice.

" Pryce, Abraham, Porter, Sharper, Barber not to mention tons of other good starting defenders " mentioned Coach Young after being asked about the 84's defense, " And while their offense isn't the best in the league, their filled with youth at all the right places and have the best left-tackle in the league in Orlando Pace."

Coach Young just smiled, " It's going to be a challenge for sure, but as the saying goes,... 'Any Given Sunday.' "

The Bruins however have some great players of their own. 24 year old QB, Donovan McNabb out of Syracuse has a huge arm, and is 1A or 1B when it comes down to the best QB in the league.

The backs for the Bruins feature veteran Ricky Watters running and catching the ball out of the backfield with McCarrdell and Shannon Sharpe as his two other legit options in the passing game.

Sure footed Jason Hanson and Shane Lechler will help the Bruins excel in special teams but it's going to come down to " X's and O's " insisted Coach Young who will coach in his first ever professional regular-season game this upcoming Sunday.

" The defense is a work in progress, " admitted Bruins GM Mike Brouillette, " While we feel we have defensive stars in Young and Madison - not to mention superstar Harrison at SS, the team still has much to do on that side of the ball. "

While GM Brouillette (who also owns the Los Angeles Bruins in the BSA, formerly VBL6) has been known to be one to lower expectations to and take the pressure of his team and place it firmly on himself, he insists this is not the case, " I went all in to buy a franchise within the VFL2. " he pressed, " This is a very good team, and we should at least finish the season with a record of .500 or better. "

Strong words.

The season starts in a day, or two, or even three depending on when your reading this but the first season here in the VFL2 should be a fun learning experience for all franchises involved.

24-14
